Surplus Plus / One Initiative. Many Inspirations
Sadanand Ganya Vayada owned a small piece of land where he was growing vegetables and other crops for self consumption. He was introduced to the seed conservation initiative by the GEV organisation. This is where he was trained to understand the importance of this program for his crop agriculture and economic development. Through this SEEDS FOR LIFE project, He began planting different varieties of paddies in Kharif season and hyacinth beans (Kaduwal), mung gram (Mug), and pigeon pea (Tur) crop in Rabi season. In addition to that, He used organic inputs like fertilizer & natural pesticides, which helped in a lower cost of production of his crops instead made an additional income. Around 300 farmers visited his farmland and got highly inspired. They themselves adopted these means of sustainable agriculture for boosted production.
What next?
Using indigenous varieties for quadruple production!
Here’s wishing him all the very best from Team GEV.
